Xantrex/Trace SW2512

The inverter is a fairly intelligent device designed, at the simplest level, to convert 12 Volt battery power into 110 volt alternating current for use in all those devices that weren't designed specifically for vehicle installations.

The SW2512 is really a lot smarter than that.  We are using an older model unit, designed for off-grid applications with the potential to OUTPUT power to the grid when available.  In other words selling power back to the utility company.  The unit will also control the generator in overload conditions or to charge the batteries when needed, a feature we do use, since the vehicle may sit for as much as three days at a time on those rare occasions when there is a long weekend.
